With three exciting models, the Chevrolet Silverado series of commercial-rated, heavy-duty pick-up trucks is attracting strong local interest.
Designed for heavy payloads, the HD series offers unmatched power in its class, huge towing capacity, and a wide range of interior options for those wanting comforts such as leather trim, a sunroof and dual climate control. Models are available in two-wheel and four-wheel drive. The Silverado range has a standard cargo volume of around 2.14 cubic metres.
Australian-based American Vehicle Sales is reporting increased sales across the Silverado range, particularly from tradespeople needing bigger towing power and storage capacity.
The Silverado 1500HD LT (RRP $94,000) comes with a powerful Vor

tec 4.8 litre V8 engine, giving a towing capacity of 3.7 tonnes. It is available in regular, extended and crew cab models, has a Hydra-matic four-speed automatic transmission and an electronic stability control system as standard. All Silverados incorporate a 40/20/40 split bench front seat with folding armrest.
For those needing more power, the 2500HD LT (RRP $96,000) comes with a Vortec 6-litre engine, enabling trailer weights of up to 6.2 tonnes. It comes with a Hydra-matic six-speed automatic transmission.
Top of the Silverado range is the 3500HD (RRP $105,000), with an Allison 1000 Series six-speed automatic transmission and a Duramax Diesel 6.6 litre turbo V8 engine. It generates 360 horsepower (268 kW) at 3000 rpm and 881 Newton metres of torque, enabling a trailer weight capacity of up to 7 tonnes. It is also available in regular, extended and crew cab models as well as in single– or dual-rear wheel models.
